Shah, A. (2009). Poverty Facts and Stats. Global Issues. para 21. Retrived from http://www.globalissues.org/article/26/poverty-facts-and-stats

Dugger, C. W. (2005). U.N. vs. Poverty: Seeking a Focus, Quarreling Over the Vision. The New York Times. Retrived from http://www.nytimes.com/2005/09/14/international/14poverty.html?_r=2&scp=3&sq=United%20Nations%20International%20issues%20poverty&st=cse

Basically, I have two similiar sources that share similiar topic but use different way to express that topic. Anup Shah, the author of Poverty Facts and Stats, has little unreliable authority toward this topic. He describe himself that has computer science degree very passionate about this issues enough to create this website and articles. However, because he awared that he doesn't have enough authority toward this issues. He pay attention to improved others like accuracy, objectivity and currency. On the other hand, Celia W. Dugger's article have trustworthy authority because it's news analysis of New York Times. However, I could totally depend on this article because it could be little opinionated.

  1. Hi David,

You've worked to narrow your topic -- nice job!

    I just have a few comments/suggestions.

    * Working research question: What is programs, plans or activities that United Nations do for preventing global poverty? What is limitations that United Nations faced on by prevent the world poverty?(Why is it so hard to prevent global poverty?)

Your question can be revised so it's more concise. You're really asking the same question twice.

    * Working thesis statement: An analysis of United Nations program of preventing global poverty: Why is it global issue? What are their plan? How's that reactions help to reduce poverty? What is limitation of that program?

Well, this isn't really a thesis. Your thesis should be a response to your research question, and your response to your research question should be drawn from your preliminary research.

    * Purpose: to explan & analyze United Nations actions toward one of the global issue: Poverty around the world.

You're in good shape with your purpose.

    * Audience: Students & scholars who interested in global issues especially global poverty, U.N. employees who working on that global poverty issues.

Your audience is also dead on.

So, you need only revise your question and thesis statement, and you'll be in good shape.

    Your sources are excellent!
