Global vs. Poverty

In the 20th century, our world became very modernize in terms of mass production, market, science and technology. However, like a light can’t exist without shadow, there are many international issues of this highly modernized world. Global poverty is one of that issues indicate the dark side of the world. According to United Nations Development Program, 40 percent of the world population earned 5 percent of global income however, 20 percent of richest population earned three-quarter of it.
Also, poverty issues are closely related to other world issues. For instance, lack of food and nutrition leads to diseases and child mortality. Ultimately, this whole issues are point to human right issues how people be treated as human. Many world organizations like United Nations and Red Cross confront with this serious issue around the world. United Nations have many programs that focusing on reduce poverty around the world. For example, UNICEF helped many poor countries children by send aid to those countries. However, lack of sufficient fund and donor countries self-interest disturb these activities.
United Nations is the organization that deals with this issue fairly easy. The reason is that they have most efficient organization body structure around the world. For example, getting funds for certain program and obtaining route for helping developing nations are far more easily than other non-profit organization because U.N. is trustworthy governmental organization.
Despite of these efforts that United Nations put on to this issue, the world doesn’t look different than few years from now. There are three major obstacles that United Nations has: lack of funds, donor countries self-interest, and corruption.
